Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson's relationship has been ... unusual, to put it mildly. But first, let's recap how the two got together.

Businessman Herjavec left the Shark Tank studios for a brief moment to flex his dancing skills (. While he didn't come out victorious on the dance floor and was ultimately eliminated a week before the semifinals, he won something more invaluable: the heart of his dance partner, Johnson.

Their chemistry on and off the DWTS set was undeniable, but, with Herjavec being very much married to his then-wife, Diane Plese, everyone assumed his and Johnson's relationship was strictly professional. And perhaps it was ... at first.

"From the moment I met her, I love hanging out with her. We are having a great time," he told magazine about their budding relationship. Herjavec went on to divorce his wife, dump his alleged side chick, and go full-throttle with his relationship with Johnson. Sounds pretty messy already, doesn't it?

After a glamorous is in it for the long haul. But as madly in love as they are with each other, we can't ignore the unorthodox elements of their union. Here are all of the strange things about Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson's relationship.

He was (unhappily) taken when they first met

Herjavec and his ex-wife, Diane Plese, were married for 24 years when they decided to legally separate. With divorce looming on the horizon, Herjavec fell into a dark period of his life, telling magazine that he "just wanted to end it," having contemplated suicide.

On March 3, 2015, Herjavec announced that he and Plese were officially moving forward with the divorce in a statement to . "Human Relationships are so difficult ... I wish nothing but love and peace for our family as we move forward from this," he said.

Single ladies worldwide who thought they might have a chance with the millionaire hunk were met with disappointment when just a few days after his divorce announcement, he was out on the town with Johnson. They were all smiles as they drove around in his fancy, exotic car, and it was pretty clear that his wounds from his previous marriage had healed, thanks, in part, to Johnson.

The timing of the end of his marriage and the start of his relationship with Johnson is pretty suspicious, but Johnson insisted that they were strictly platonic when they first met. "We got to know each other on a friendship level. That developed into something else," she told  in January 2016.

Things got really messy with his alleged mistress

Robert Herjavec and Daniella Vasinova

Not only was he still legally married when he fell head over heels in love with Johnson, he also reportedly had a mistress — an actress by the name of Danielle Vasinova.

Vasinova told Woman's Day in August 2015 (via the ) that she and Herjavec went through a bitter breakup, and the millionaire businessman cut off all communication with her after Johnson foxtrotted her way into his life. "I don't think any person should be treated the way I have been, it's mean and cruel," Vasinova said before claiming Herjavec also forced her to move out of an apartment he had been renting. How rude.

They say time heals all wounds, but, in November 2017, it appeared that Vasinova was out for blood. magazine reported that Herjavec had filed a lawsuit against Vasinova, who he had dated on and off from January 2014 through February 2015, for attempting to extort him for $20 million.

He claimed she sent a letter through her attorney, threatening to expose "graphic details of [his] deviant sexual fantasies and escapades" if he didn't pay up. Herjavec requested $1 in damages to stop the alleged extortion plot, and Vasinova fought back with a countersuit, claiming Herjavec had repeatedly sexually assaulted her during their relationship, reported.

We're not sure how she did it, but Johnson managed to stand by her man's side during the whole ordeal.

Things moved really fast

Their relationship moved at lightning speed after the couple met in February 2015 after partnering up on DWTS. They reportedly fell in love during the show's rehearsals, all over the world soon thereafter.

Before we knew it, they were  via IVF in December 2017.

"This has been a roller coaster for them the last few years — meeting, falling in love, getting married and now starting a family," a source told magazine about the smitten pair going from 0 to 100 in less than three years. "Kym has wanted to be a mom for a long time. They're both so happy."

Here's to a lifetime of happiness for the enamored couple, but their speedy relationship is really giving us a bout of motion sickness.

Third time's the charm

Less than a year after his divorce was finalized, the Croatian-Canadian businessman got down on one knee to propose to the love of his life. "It took me a long time," Herjavec told  about his February 2016 proposal. "I didn't let anybody know until a week before because I'm really bad at surprises and I was afraid I'd mess it up."

He recalled the magical event with the ABC program, noting a somewhat embarrassing moment. "When I asked Kym [to marry me] she started crying and she didn't say anything, so I asked a second time and she kept on crying. And I asked a third time and she didn't say anything, and I'm saying, 'This is getting a little awkward.' But she said 'yes' finally." Thankfully, this wasn't a case of three strikes, you're out!

Maybe the professional ballroom dancer couldn't speak because she was so taken aback by the 6.37-carat sparkler that Herjavec presented her with. We'd be at a loss for words, too.

Is she prepared to leave empty handed?

After his marriage to his ex-wife came to an end, Herjavec reportedly had to split half of his $263 million fortune in their divorce settlement. The financial hit reportedly made the entrepreneur more cautious with his next marriage. So, he sought out a ).

A source told the website that Johnson "agreed to sign a prenup that gives her next to nothing" in the event that her marriage to the star hit the skids. "It's a case of once bitten twice shy for Robert. But Kym loves him with all her heart and she couldn't imagine life without him," the source continued.

It's pretty sucky that Johnson had to prove she was in it for all the right reasons by signing an agreement that might leave her with zilch, but we can also understand why Herjavec felt the need to protect his dough. Luckily, the dance maven rakes in her own money as a of the Australian version of DWTS and as a dancer on the American program. So let's just hope she's stashing away her paychecks for a rainy day.

Although they appear to be the perfect match for one another, they also have some striking differences, as well. After becoming Johnson's husband, Herjavec gave an interview to  less than three months after tying the knot and said he and his Aussie bride were "struggling" with her dog, Lola.

"It was just [Johnson] and Lola for a long time and then I come into the picture, and Lola is very independent and used to sitting at the table for dinner," Herjavec said. "I come along and I'm like, 'Why's the dog at the dinner table?'"

He called it an "adjustment phase," in which they were "trying to figure out where the boundaries are" with Johnson's beloved pet.

It's not entirely a deal breaker for their marriage, of course, but we can't help but wonder if this would've been a non-issue if Lola had a little more time to warm up to her new human dad.

They feel like they've 'been together forever'

Once they went public with their relationship, the pair found it hard not to talk about their romance. They've since continued with their penchant for gushing about the highs and lows of their marriage, including in a May 2017 interview with .

"It's weird because... I guess we're newlyweds, but I feel like we've been together forever in a great way, as well," Johnson told the website nine months after she and Herjavec were married. Her husband confirmed her sentiments by saying, "Yeah, it doesn't feel newlywed. It feels great ... It feels like we've known each other for a long time."

Most relationships begin with a brief honeymoon phase before the couple becomes really comfortable with one another, so the newness of their relationship is bound to wear off. We just hope they can continue to keep their love for one another on a high note, especially now that they've expanded their family by having twins.

At last they can dance!

Kym Johnson and Robert HerjavecGetty Images

A week before they were eliminated from Dancing with the Stars, Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson were prepared to dance to the song "" by singer Etta James. Of course, they never got to perform their dance for the judges and the show's loyal viewers, but they didn't want the bluesy slow jam to go to waste.

Johnson told that they planned on using the song as their "first dance as husband and wife." That sounds cool and all, but we thought first dances were supposed to be a happy and fun occasion? To us, it sounds like hearing that song play during their wedding would've stirred up painful memories of them being booted from the program.

However, since the two were all smiles as they gracefully during the joyous moment at their wedding reception, we guess we're the only ones who find their song choice a bit strange.

They go halfsies on food

The businessman dished to about all of his health and diet secrets that help him keep up with his much younger wife — who just so happens to be 14 years his junior.

While detailing his fitness regimen — which included running, dancing, and attending SoulCycle classes — Herjavec admitted that he also has a thing for feasting on unhealthy dishes, such as French fries, for example. But he's able to look to Johnson to help him curb his bad eating habits.

He told the magazine, "When I eat out, I always try to limit myself to eating half of my plate because portion sizes are often quite large ... Kym and I tend to go to a restaurant and share a meal."

They're literally two peas in a pod, and there's no doubt that they're perfect for each other. But we wonder how many stares they get in restaurants when they divvy up their meals. Our guess is a ton!

She gives him impromptu dance lessons

Even Herjavec was unsure of how well he would perform on DWTS. "I just wanted to get past week one," he told magazine. "I love to dance, even though I'm awful."

Thankfully his wife is a professional dancer who doesn't mind giving him lessons at the drop of a hat. "My ultimate dancing moment, [was when] we were in Cabo San Lucas at this Mexican restaurant. There was a band and people were dancing, and just before we go up there, [Kym] teaches me a quick salsa," he told the magazine.

After everyone cleared the dance floor so the couple could show their stuff, Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson performed, and, in the end, everyone in attendance stood up and clapped for them. "That was the ultimate. What guy doesn't have that dream?" he stated.

We know dancing is a part of her life, but perhaps she should be more mindful about his insecurities. Though he's a good sport about it, we hope she doesn't make a habit out of putting him on the spot and asking him to shake his groove thing in front of strangers.

Is laughter truly the best medicine?

In an April 2017 on Shark Tank, so what did he do that tickled his new bride so? Well, he hurt himself so badly he had to see a doctor. Hilarious, right?

"My husband decided to jump off a boat and did a flip — he landed on his ribs," Johnson told the mag. "It was a big flop and he ended up hurting himself [and having to go to the doctor], so that wasn't good. But he still thinks he's 20, so that was pretty funny." Um, what?

First of all, did his ribs hit the boat or the water? We feel like that's an important distinction. Second, we all love a good moment of hubris-gone-wrong — after all, would never have existed without them — but don't the yuk-yuks end when medical attention is required? Clearly, Johnson recognized this, but we're not so sure how thrilled Herjavec had to be when she decided to share his bone-cracking blunder with the world.
